The Elsa Clinic is the brainchild of Dr Sonya Jessup. She established the clinic after recognising the need for better, non-surgical treatment options for women, in particular those with urinary incontinence and post-pregnancy issues. She is passionate about women’s gynaecological health not only for function but for achieving personal satisfaction.
Dr Jessup is a subspecialist OBGYN, a fertility specialist, gynaecologist and parent. She currently runs her own practise in multiple locations across Sydney. With more than 16 years experience as a Fertility Specialist and Gynaecologist in public and private practice she now practices at the Elsa Clinic in Miranda and Monash IVF.
Sonya graduated from the Auckland University School of Medicine in 1994. She gained her specialist qualification as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2004 after completing all her training at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. Sonya worked as a Fellow in Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology for three years before going on to achieve a Masters of Reproductive Medicine (UNSW). A key aspect of her subspecialty training was in the areas of advanced laparoscopy and gynaecological surgery.
As a busy doctor and a parent, Sonya understands the difficulties of managing medical treatments whilst trying to juggle aspects of personal life. She has an individual approach to her patients and endeavours wherever possible to help work treatment plans into a framework that best suits her patients.
Dr Jessup’s interest in the treatment of urinary problems lead her to The Emsella device and then the Juliet Laser. These devices have led to the establishment of the Elsa Clinic offering surgery-free treatments to correct urinary symptoms. She also offers Viveve treatment for both urinary problems and vaginal tissue problems.
