Women’s gynaecology needs differ at different stages of their life. Young women start having periods and become sexually aware. They often require menstrual regulation, contraception, safe sexual practices but may also have structural variations of anatomy, such as a tight hymen or significant labial variations that can be corrected with minor surgical procedures.

Childbirth causes a number of changes to a woman’s body. Whether you have common issues after giving birth vaginally, such as generalised vaginal laxity, or more significant issues such as prolapse or incontinence cervix, this next stage of life is often associated with the desire to correct any troublesome long-term problems. If post childbirth issues are not addressed, women often are curtailed in their ability to exercise and may have self esteem issues that cause a deterioration of the relationship with their partner.

Menopause brings about the most common big changes to a woman’s body. The decreasing estrogen and androgen levels commonly cause not only hot flushes, but a condition now known as Genitourinary Syndrome. The vaginal tissues become thinner and drier often resulting in pain and burning with intercourse and also a worsening of their stress incontinence and urinary urgency symptoms.
